Welcome!
Hello There! I'm Kayleigh. A Twenty something adult from the heart of Sussex, just along the south coast of England. Thank you for taking a look at my corner of the internet. I love Books, Tea, Plants, White Wine, Home Interior and everything Disney! On my blog, you'll find lots of lifestyle posts on being an actual adult . . . anyone else feel like they aren't responsible enough? Adulthood is a journey that we are constantly learning new lessons or gaining new experiences as well as dealing with the struggles we may face. I'm a huge believer in positivity and trying to find the positive in a situation rather than focusing on the negative of the situation. I struggle with anxiety, I know what it's like to live with a head full of worries as well as the ongoing battles you face. If you want to know more, just let me know and thank you for taking a look around!

Five Thoughts about Turning Thirty!!

As you can tell from the title, I am slowly approaching my thirties. Yikes!

Turing Thirty means I'm an actual adult and if you read my blog, you'll know my thoughts on being an actual adult. It means I can't get away with thinking I'm still a twenty one year old adult. I mean if I can get away with being twenty one, then I will. . .most of the time this works, there's always that person that's like - are you really??

Does this mean she can see my wrinkles? Have I got grey hairs coming through and I haven't noticed them yet?

Like any milestone, it can be a scary one. I thought I'd share a few of my thoughts on turning thirty - please note I'm not turning thirty for almost a year but 30 will be here before I know it!

 - YOU'RE SO OLD -

Yes, I already feel old, but 30 makes me feel like I've finally hit the - well you're 30 now, you aren't 'young anymore' - For your information I still get asked for my ID when I go and buy a bottle of wine! It's insane  that in Twenty years I'll be 50!! Plus I'm half way to 60! - INSANE!!

- WHAT YOU SHOULD ACHIEVE BY 30-

'why haven't you had children, you aren't getting any younger you know. You need to have children whilst your young!' - Yes Polly, I haven't had a child yet. Yes, I'm not married yet, maybe I haven't got a lot of what other people my age have, but that's okay. I've enjoyed late nights with a Gin knowing that I can stay up till 4am without having to rush back for the babysitter or riding Thunder Mountain at Disney and crying over meeting Mickey Mouse!  I'm happy about the life choices I've made. Those days are coming and I'm happy to take life at my pace! You just do you please Polly!

- LEARNING ABOUT YOURSELF -

Your twenties are your learning years. It's like you go through so many life lessons and experiences. These for me have really taught me about who I am as a person. I've learnt that we each have a certain amount of time to do, achieve and live the life we want. Listen to yourself, your wants, your goals and do them. Just because you are an adult, doesn't stop you from doing something. Life is what you make it.

Gone are the days where I planned on becoming a Ice Skater - - -  yes really, five year old me planned on becoming a professional Skater. I've been on the ice once and absolutely hated it. There went that dream -  - - - - Goals as an adult are simple. Get Married next year, have a few children, make sure the siblings are good and well, don't get a hangover after drinking a shit load of Gin. . .

Hangovers are the worst as an adult. The older I'm getting, the worse the hangover. Make sure I remember to stick the washing on, remember to buy tea bags in the weekly shop!

I'm content with life as an adult.

- HAVING YOUR SHIT TOGETHER -

It's okay to not have your shit together. It's okay to not have all your ducks in a row. One persons idea of success is another persons nightmare. Just because someone says you should do this, this and this by the time you are 30, doesn't mean that's exactly what you have to do. Some people choose to got to uni where as others get a job. Some people choose to settle down in their early twenties, others choose to in their late thirties/forties. Everyone does life differently. I'm not even sure I have my shit together and that's okay. You do you. Live your 'best life!'

- GIVING UP CARING -

I mean giving up caring about peoples opinions and caring about what people think. In your teens/twenties you care about opinions. I know I did. I didn't want to go out without my hair being straight or a full face of make up because I cared about peoples opinions of me. I cared about what they might think of me if I went into town without having make up on or without straightening my hair. The same goes for clothes. I found it really hard to try and be fashionable and was so uncomfortable in clothes I wore. As a late twenty something adult, I'm happy going out without making sure my hair is perfect and buy something because I'd rather be comfy and look nice in something than look ridiculous and uncomfortable. - maybe I am old....

One thing I do know about turning 30, is that I plan on celebrating this massive milestone with lots and lots of GIN!
